and eleven continued to prove herself a great mom. i had to keep reminding myself not to expect too much from her, she was only a 3 yr old after all!
i could only hope that November would be do half as well.
( and i got the vet to leave me some tranq for her just in case)
since the sixpack arrived i did have brief moments of feeling a teeny bit sorry for myself as others would head off to and relate clinics, and especiallycelebrations.
with all the money i had spent on these guys i certainly had used all my horse spending money for a long time!
besides, with not having any idea of what foaling dates would be, i couldn't make plans to go anywhere anyway.
i ever so briefly considered naming eleven's baby "Clinic", "Nicki" for short but quickly discarded it.
i was pretty sure that i had nova's baby's name picked before it arrived.
and when her bag of waters was showing and she followed me at liberty to an area i preferred her to foal in, that probably clinched it.
baby's name is significant in two ways.
one, to symbolize the whole experience of the rescues.
and two, while i might not have been able to attend any, on June 6th at 7:30 am, my "Celebration" was here!

nova didn't quite know what to think.

she alternated between curiously

to "nothing i need to pay attention to so i'll just graze here"

she had NO interest in cleaning her baby but did have a cpl little nickers so that was promising.
when baby was near her front end she did have some squeals and a clp little strikes, but as soon as that little nose went anywhere past her midline nova just froze in spite of herself, even if in midstep.
it was pretty funny,... i don't know what i'm doing but mysteriously i can't move....

here's foaling videos if you would like to see.

just so there is no mistake, i love all these horses, and ember is just too sweet to stand, but brady, well, brady makes my heart swell every time i see her.
and, let me tell u, brady is a HOOT!!
so, we have a lot of pictures of brady.
i can't remember if i already told u guys this, so skip it if i did
i remember Don Halladay, a 3*PP saying a young horse is a blank slate, so if something bad ends up in there, u put it there.
when the sixpack arrived and i started with them a litany in my brain was i hope i can be good enuff for them. the more i had to do with nova the more it was repeated in my brain i hope i can be good enuff for her! thinking every skill and knowledge i have is gonna be tested by her.
well, with brady it will be in a different way becuz of the beginning she gets to have, but boy or boy, do i ever think she will keep me on my toes!!!
it was pretty clear from day one that brady was gonna be fun!
here's a pic of ember getting her first needles....

and here's brady,..... oh ya, we don't have a pic of brady getting her's because all hands were needed.
i started out the same way as with ember, but immediately needed reinforcements. and by the time she had her needles jeff had teeny tiny hoofprint shaped bruises all over his shins, and i had a bloody nose.
what i do have pics of is when she was one day old and we let her and mommy into the yard.
on the way to the yard she discovered there was mountains to climb...

once we got her away from the manure pile and thru the gate,.... low and behold, there was a whole new world out here!
yeeehaw!!

hey, what's this?

i can knock that over!

oh, and look over here.

i can put my feet on that.

and this?

yep, i can put my feet on that too!

hey, who are you again?

and what's that u got?

no wait, what's over here?

i can put my back feet on that!

you guys starting to see what i mean?? :D
